Which Ear is Best for Answering Phone

A message from the “MaxCure medical team” says that we should always use our left ear for calls because using the right ear can directly affect the brain. A later version of the message says that when using the right ear for mobile phone calls makes the brain more prone to mobile radiation.

However, there are no evidences that prove that using the left ear can lower these risks.

This information was firstly published in 2002. It summarizes the findings of a study conducted by scientists at Finland’s and Nuclear Safety Authority. These scientists found that exposing human cells to mobile phone radiation damages the blood-brain barrier, which is a safety barrier in the body that blocks dangerous substances in blood from penetrating the brain.

This report makes clear that the conducted research was performed on human cells under laboratory conditions. But, it doesn’t say anything about which ear should be used while talking on the phone.

Probably, this message was an attempt to increase fear and panic. Years after the first, original version of this message, appeared a new, graphical version on Facebook. It doesn’t mention the “MaxCure medical team”, but sends the same information about using the left ear.

Also, there are people who recommend when calling someone through your mobile phone, do not put your mobile closer to your ears until the recipient answers. After dialing, the mobile phone would use its maximum signaling power, which is 2 watts (33 dbi).

Anyways, there is a study that finds a solid relation between brain dominance and the ear used to while talking on the phone, with more than 70 percent of participants holding their cell phone up to the ear on the same side as their dominant hand.

People whose speech and language center is on the left side of the brain tend to use their right hand for writing and other everyday tasks.

Most left brain dominant people also use the phone in their right ear, while right brain dominant people tend to use their left hand to hold the phone in their left ear.

Sharing is caring!
