The day camp will focus on improvement or elimination of most obesity-related conditions in adults and young adults.

Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in India in the 21st century, with morbid obesity affecting 5% of the country’s population. India is following a trend of other developing countries that are steadily becoming more obese. Unhealthy, processed food has become much more accessible following India’s continued integration in global food markets.This, combined with rising middle class incomes, is increasing the average caloric intake per individual among the middle class and above income households. The increasing obesity in rural India will have an implication on the delivery of health care in rural setting, which is already under strain due to lack of adequate health care facilities in villages even to avoid 35 million (almost equivalent to population of Japan), 153 million (almost equivalent to population of Russia) and 107 million (almost equivalent to population of Philippines) people have Generalized Obesity, Abdominal Obesity and Combined Obesity, respectively

Considering the seriousness of the situation and post determining the suitability of the patient, bariatric surgery is looked at as an option to deal with complex situations AND SURGERIES DURING THIS CAMP WILL BE DONE ON CONCESSIONAL BASIS.
